large scale wormery examples

Hi, We have a smallholding in wales with currently a few sheep, chickens, horses and soon to be introduced alpacas. We are currently building 3 20' x 10' wormpens using a cut up metal storage container primarily to recycle our own animal waste in a 'hopefully' profitable way. the pile of manure we already have has thousands of existing worms in it, reddish in colour & various sizes. Are these a saleable commodity, or do I somehow have to get rid of these and introduce a 'posh' variety? Sorry if I'm a bit naieve!

I just read through the topic and realised that you said you will be closing your operation in next 12 months and I wonder if it means you want to close down your business and want to sell it or want somebody to take it over? I am very interested in worm industry and planned to open a new worm farm or take over an old worm farm so maybe we will have something in common. I will contact you in a mean time to hear from you.

Newfarmer - sorry for the delay, just got back from a week away.
Yes, we are closing down and selling up (long story!) - so very happy to talk to you if you are interested in setting up or taking over an existing site. If you want to contact me using the details on our 'Northumbrian Worms' website (you can find a link elsewhere in this thread) that'd be good.
As it happens we haven't yet sold any of the more specialised kit - but have a few people interested who are currently trying to sort out their funding so the earlier we talk, the better.
