Baits and Groundbaits
Allure Groundbaits
Every angler must be amazed at the number of groundbaits that are now being marketed, it must run into thousands! every conceivable concoction has been dreamt up for these baits and how many of us have thought "what a load of rubbish"
Is it because each one is actually better than the last in attracting fish? or is it more to do with the manufacturers cashing in on the anglers desire to find something different and hopefully better? are fish really attracted by hundreds of different smells, hundreds of different colours, hundreds of different food mixes and when combined together, thousands of different concoctions?
Undoubtedly fish are attracted by certain different odours, a limited amount of "colour" and they have their preferences for food, anything new put in front of them is certainly going to generate curiosity and maybe this curiosity will turn into feeding but this is only curiosity and a bit hit and miss, it is not INSTINCT this is only brought into play when the fish comes across a smell or food particles that it cannot resist, this instinct has been programmed into all fish and animals for millions of years, it is the difference between surviving or not. Instinct can only be controlled in so called more intelligent animals eg. Humans (and that's not always the case!) We all know the scenario of having used some hook bait where the target fish is not really that hungry, plays about with the bait, nibbles it a bit - its curious but drop a wriggling worm or a live bait that the fish would normally feed on and instinct takes over it cannot help itself but bite, hungry or not!
The same applies in groundbaits, as said before, the majority of groundbaits on the market are appealing to the fishes curiosity or the anglers hope!, not anymore, there is a groundbait kit that has been deliberately put together to appeal directly to fish instinct, it is called Allure Instinct.
The Allure Instinct groundbait range has been produced after several years of research using worm humus, this has been graded and refined, when mixed with the natural binder supplied it produces a material that not only closely replicates naturally occurring mole hill soil but actually contains many times more the active ingredients that fish find irresistible in mole hill soil, but unlike all other groundbaits, Allure Instinct is a living groundbait, it contains micro life, small, natural soil dwelling creatures some of which are invisible to the naked eye, many tiny seeds and pollen grains, all of which fish have been feeding on for millions of years, take a good magnifying glass or low powered microscope and all this can be seen - all of which are irresistible to fish.
In its loose form as Allure Instinct groundbaits enters the water it will immediately cloud, a natural dark colour cloud, releasing all the natural ingredients, some will sink, some will suspend, some will rise to the surface and some will do all of these! Fish are attracted straight away by the clouding and the strong, natural scents that are released, this scent is natural worm, instinct takes over!
Even though there is an abundance of tiny life the feed level is negligible, used like this, it is an attractant only, if a higher level of feed is required, the feed ingredient or ingredients of choice are added and mixed in, once the desired proportions have been obtained it can now be used as a loose feed/attractant and placed out into the water using PVA bags, a pole feeder or even bait boat.
The base mix is made up of adding the yellow binder (marked B) to the dark active worm humus (marked A) this is done in the ratio 5 parts "A" to 2 parts "B" this can be altered to give more or less binding action.
The two parts are kept separate until needed, but can be mixed upto 24/36 hours before use and stored in a cool environment.
The base mix, after adding a very small amount of water (the required amount will be found after a little trial) can also be mixed up with feed ingredients into a consistency that makes it ideal for moulding into balls for lobbing, pole feeders or method feeders, the moulding will hold together and on reaching the water will rapidly sink, once on the bottom it will now break up, giving off a dark rising cloud in the water, releasing scent and particles, the higher the percentage of added feeds, the slower the break up, so accurate feeding of the swim can be obtained. Finally, if you mould Allure Instinct ground bait mix, leave it overnight or longer, the moulding will become rock hard but once it hits the water, it will start to dissolve immediately making it ideal for using a catapult.
Carp are a little different to the normal coarse fish "instinct" the majority of fish in carp lakes have been born and bred in "captivity" and conditioned to being fed with pellets and large quantities at that! Allure groundbait in its dry form can be mixed with sinking trout pellets, bloodworm pellets, whole hemp, sweetcorn etc in fact anything you may want to use and being PVA friendly can be used in PVA bags, particularly impressive are mixes used in cone shaped, perforated PVA bags, as the cone hits the water, the groundbait immediately soaks up water via the perforations, the PVA rapidly melts and releases all the ingredients into a sinking cloud, smaller particles are suspended, some of the bait will float to the top and the majority, depending on what is used, plummets to the bottom to lay down a bed of bait, no self respecting carp can resist the cloud and smell it has been presented with!
If spodding is the name of the game, then just adjust the amount of water added to the initial mix until you achieve the consistency you are looking for.
Allure Instinct has been developed to appeal to the 2 main freshwater angling types, coarse fish and Carp. The base mix is the same but different feed additives are included in the kit according to the type of fishing required.
Allure Instinct. Coarse.
This kit contains the base mix and is supplied complete with crushed hemp, small kibbled maize, bloodworm pellet and fishmeal.
Allure Instinct. Carp.
This kit contains the base mix and is supplied with whole hemp, large whole maize, crushed Tiger nuts, sinking trout pellets both large and small and Hallibut pellets.
The feed ingredients supplied with the kits are the most popular for the different types of fishing but we would be pleased to receive any suggestions that can be added to the range.
3bait combo.
The 3Bait combo is a combined pack containing 3 different baits, sometimes for a bit of pleasure fishing you are never sure which bait to take or maybe you end up fishing somewhere else than originally planned, with this pack you will have a good selection of bait that you may need and haven't spent out on one particular bait.
The pack contains 50 grammes (about 50 worms) of mixed size Dendrobaena, the most popular worm for fishing, a quarter of a pint of mixed colour maggots and about 100 grms of mixed size pellet, all in their own seperate tubs, delivered to your door - what more could you want!
